External and stable doors

Front, back and stable doors that shut properly and keep the weather out.

External doors need a sound frame, the right seals and a lock you can trust. We fit them square, weather-tight and secure.

What an external door involves

An external door takes more weather and more weight than anything inside the house. The frame and cill are checked first, because a new door on a rotten frame will not stay square. Heavy-duty hinges, weather seals and a proper threshold go in with the door.

Locks and furniture are fitted so the door locks cleanly without lifting or slamming, and the keeps are set so it stays that way.

Stable doors

Half open for the dog, fully shut for the night.

A stable door gives a cottage its character and a kitchen its fresh air. The two halves are hung so they meet cleanly and lock together as one door, with ironmongery to suit the house. The oak stable door pictured has a glazed top half, black hinges and a pet flap.
